Our Global Partnership

We are privileged to partner with Lift the Lid, Inc. , a US-based nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting education in underserved communities. Their partnership with us began in 2019 when they helped complete our first classroom, and they have been with us every step of the way since.

Lift the Lid supports Keneni Stars Academy in several key areas:

1. Annual Writing Competition
   Each year, Lift the Lid sponsors our school-wide writing competition. This event gives every student the chance to develop their writing skills, express their thoughts, and build confidence. Winning entries receive scholarships that help families pay school fees, making education more accessible.

   

2. Infrastructure Support

Over years, Lift the Lid has helped us complete, build and improve our school facilities including:

1Roofing and finishing our classrooms – Lift the Lid roofed and finished our two-storey classroom block, bringing us closer to completing this vital learning space.

2Renovation of latrines – In 2022, Lift the Lid helped us renovate our boys' latrine, improving sanitation for our learners.

3Handwash stations – During the COVID-19 pandemic, Lift the Lid provided handwashing stations to protect the health of our students and staff.

4Providing a water storage tank – Lift the Lid donated a 5000-litre water tank, ensuring a reliable supply of clean water for drinking and cleaning

Through this partnership, our students have participated in writing workshops, received art materials, and connected virtually with volunteers from the United States. These experiences broaden their horizons and inspire them to dream big.

Through our partnership with Lift the Lid, our students have:

• Developed stronger writing and communication skills

• Gained confidence in sharing their voices

• Received scholarships that keep them in school

• Learned that people across the world care about their education

• Built friendships and connections beyond their community
