We are thrilled to announce that Lameck Kipchirchir, a Grade 4 learner aged 10, has made our school proud at the 2026 African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (AFEW) Kenya Annual Environmental Awareness Competition, sponsored by the AFEW Kenya Giraffe Centre.

On behalf of AFEW Kenya, we thank Keneni Stars Academy for participating in the 2026 Environmental Awareness Competition... reads the invitation!

Congratulations to Kipchirchir, who was selected as one of the top 301 winners from over 5,400 entries nationwide. You're invited to the Awards Giving Ceremony on Friday, 19th at the Kenya School of Law - Gate C. Mr. Ratego - Program Officer, Conservation Education

Lameck emerged as 2nd Runner-Up in the essay category with his thought-provoking piece titled, "Why We Need to Conserve Our Environment." In his essay, he eloquently highlighted why conservation matters, including:

1Protecting biodiversity – Every living creature, from the smallest insect to the largest elephant, plays a vital role in maintaining a healthy ecosystem. Losing even one species can upset the delicate balance of nature.

2Securing our future – Conserving forests, water sources, and wildlife ensures that future generations will have clean air, fresh water, and a thriving planet to call home.

Special thanks to our partners, Lift-the-Lid, Inc. USA, for nurturing essay writing at our school, and to all our dedicated teachers. We also extend our sincere gratitude to AFEW Kenya for organising this meaningful competition and for giving young learners a platform to voice their thoughts on environmental conservation. We also thank them for recognising and nurturing the talents of our students.

Congratulations, Lameck! Your achievement inspires us all to care more deeply for our planet

Thank you, AFEW Kenya! Thank you
